<idPurp>Population islands in the region as modeled by expected infrastructure and liquefaction impacts from a 9.0 Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake.
The population islands layer was created by performing routing analyses using Network Analyst in ArcMap. The ESRI North American Detailed Streets dataset was used as the network dataset for routing analysis. Additionally, the network analysis included data from WRRAP, HSST, BSST to evaluate the expected damage from the earthquake. State and local bridges that are expected to be out of service for at least two weeks were added as point barriers. Interstate and Washington state roads that are expected to be out of service for at least two weeks were added as line barriers. Routes were selected based on population centers throughout the region and were iteratively added to develop a region-wide layer of population islands created by infrastructure damage.
This layer can be used to identify potential CPOD locations and various indicators and themes for each island, jurisdiction, or the entire region.
