The project used GPS and terrestrial survey section control to create Public Land Survey section grids for much of the western third of the county . Centers of section were not located, but determined by theoretical construction or from recorded survey information. Recorded subdivisions were constructed using coordinate geometry (COGO) of information off the recorded subdivision documents for formal plats, condominiums and some records of survey and then rotated into the section grid. Remaining linework was added by registering manually maintained maps on a digitizing tablet and digitizing the linework to predetermined tolerances or scaling and constructing offsets. New data is added using COGO construction from recorded documents and base linework is adjusted to the new COGO data. Accuracy of the features is not field verified. For GIS data compatibility purposes it is generally +/- 2 feet plus any survey discrepancy for urban areas and decreases in reliability toward the rural and mountainous areas. No attempt was made during the conversion effort to capture all easements of record and the data set should not be considered a definitive source of information for easements. (Easements for drainage, sewer and water were only captured in the City of Everett during conversion.)
