<stepDesc>The fold dataset was generated by performing a detailed study of existing literature, georeferencing source maps, digitizing or downloading selected fold locations, and then generating attributes for axial traces, such as name, visibility, age of last known deformation, method of detection (LiDAR, mapping, or other geophysical method), the source used for the axial trace of the fold as well as the corresponding ID number of the structure in the USGS Quaternary fault and fold database. Axial traces of folds were generated using the largest scale possible, with a 1:250,000 minimum, although most maps were 1:100,000 or better. Many structures in this dataset contain information from multiple sources. Only the source for the trace of each structure is provided. And it is important to note that for many structures, the sources for detailed paleoseismic studies that provide evidence of Quaternary deformation for each structure are not provided. For a more comprehensive list of sources of detailed information about Quaternary faults and folds, refer to the U.S. Geological Survey's Quaternary fault and fold database.
