<procdesc>The Washington Division of Geology and Earth Resources conducted a thorough literature search to compile known volcanic vents in Washington State. We used the volcanic vent layer from the Washington State Division of Geology and Earth Resources 1:100,000 scale geologic map digital data as an initial source for vent location and other information. Most of the effort put forth in this compilation was directed towards vents younger than Pliocene age; precise locations of older vents are not easily obtained due to incision and overprinting by younger geologic deposits and processes. Vents found in additional literature were digitized using standard georeferencing methods using ArcMap. The result of compilation was an expanded and more complete attribute table, and over 120 additional vent locations. This dataset underwent extensive attributing and editing of the geologic features. Source data discrepancies over vent names are noted in the COMMENTS field. Additional checks for attribute errors were made on the computer workstation. Version History

The given sources indicate over 500 vents in Washington State. Funding for this data compilation was provided through a U.S. Department of Energy geothermal grant. This feature class is part of a geodatabase that contains additional tabular data representing cited sources used for each vent presented in the feature class.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/DIV&gt;</idAbs>
