Service Description: Zoning establishes which type of land-uses are permitted, prohibited, or require special approvals in accordance with the Snohomish County Code (Title 30 - Unified Development Code). Legal mandates describe the administration of development regulations. The permitting process proceeds with permit intake, notice, review, record keeping, public disclosure, code compliance, determinations, and issuance upon fulfillment of legal requirements. Construction Inspections of buildings, drainage improvements, grading, infrastructure, utilities, and critical areas ensures that development projects act in accordance with permit approval. Code Enforcement processes address the adherence of codes and regulations. Development regulations are comprised of local, County, State, and Federal regulations and statutes. A few key pieces of legislation include the Snohomish County Code, Growth Management Act, Shoreline Management Act, Clean Water Act, State Environmental Policy Act, Endangered Species Act, Flood Hazard Regulations, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System, and the County's critical areas ordinances.
