Service Description: These data consist of locations and attributes of biological and constructed features surveyed as part of a marine shoreline inventory project for Snohomish County, Washington. This approximately 53-mile inventory documents features affecting nearshore habitat along most of the Snohomish County Puget Sound shoreline and was conducted November 04 through December 16,2002. The field inventory was completed by Landau Associates and GIS database was completed by Terra Logic Associates. Data were collected in Snohomish County from the King County line to the Skagit County Line, including Hat Island and Jetty Island. The areas not surveyed include the industrialized Everett waterfront from the US Navy yard to the north shore of the Snohomish River and three areas where access was denied by property owners: 1) a residence south of Kayak Point. 2) several residences along the north portion of Naketa Beach and 3) several farm properties north of the Skagit River. Data were collected by teams of two biologists using Trimble Pathfinder Pro GPS units, primarily walking the supralittoral zone of the shoreline. Data were collected by boat and on foot for Hat Island and Jetty Island because substantial lengths of shoreline were otherwise inaccessibel during high tide. Data were collected for the features along the nearshore, from the supralittoral to 50 ft landward of the supralittoral. Features inventoried include the locations and attributes of armoring, riparian vegetation, bluffs/banks, piers/docks, ramps/launches, other hydromodification structures, pipe outlets, seeps, stream outlets, backshore wetlands, and invasive plant species.
